The Eisner Award Nominations were announced a few weeks ago and MARVELOUS LAND OF OZ was nominated for BEST ADAPTATION and I was nominated for BEST PENCILER/INKER

I was flattered beyond belief that we were nominated and won 2 awards last year. But I'm completely over the moon this year. Not only did our second volume of OZ get put in the for a statue but I personally was nominated. This just blows my mind and I am so thankful to all of you for supporting the books and the work.

So now it's your turn to help out by casting your vote. If you are in the comic industry stop by the Einser voting site and cast your ballot. There are a ton of great nominees this year so spread the love. But make sure you check the box for BEST ADAPTATION and BEST PENCILER/INKER

Hey all.

I'll be doing some talks and workshops at SCAD's Atlanta campus this weekend. Fri. Sat. Sun. I wish I had more details than that, but if you got to SCAD, drop by.
As some of you that have watched me for awhile know, I'm not the best at replying to everyone who leaves comments. I swear it's just because I'm far too unorganized to get to them before there are a billion. Then I'm overwhelmed and I don't know what the hell to do..haha. I do read them all and have so much love for all the incredible comments and support you leave on my page and images. Seriously, you all are amazing and I couldn't ask for a better group of art lovers.

So, like I always do, I'm posting my big group THANK YOU. I appreciate you all giving you time to my page and art and ask that you forgive the absent minded artist that I am if I don't reply to everyones comments. Crazy love to you all.
Anyone interested in buying my ModBook?  I bought it in March with the intension of using it when I'm away from the studio. But having a 10 month old doesn't mix well with working outside of the studio. So I've barely used it. By barely, I mean I've only turned it on 5 times in 6 months. It works perfectly and is basically brand new.  It's maxed out on specs.

2.13 GHz Core 2 Duo
160 GB Harddrive
6 GB Memory
2.5 years left on the Extended Warranty

I bought it for a $2500 and will be selling it for $2000 with free shipping. That's less than what you can get a base model for once you add in tax and warranty.

For more general information on the Axitron Modbook visit the official site

Drop me a note if you're interested in purchasing the ModBook.

That's right! We came home with 2 Eisner Awards for our book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.  I couldn't be happier and more proud of the work everyone did on the book.

I'd like to thank specifically Dan Buckley and Dave Gabriel for being the two guys that pushed me to take the job. I was nervous about leaving an X-men book and doing an all ages/children's book even though that is where my artistic heart lives most of the time.  I just was scared that no body would pay attention and I would get lost in the back corners of your local shops.  I couldn't have been more and these two gentlemen were smart enough to see otherwise.

Furthermore, I'd like to thank everyone up at Marvel for allowing Eric and I go run off to our corner and do whatever we thought the project needed.  No one ever messed with us, changed anything, or tried to steer the ship in their own direction.  I've never felt more free as an artist and it's a credit to our Marvel team for giving us that space to create. You all are awesome.  Nate Cosbly, especially you for being our voice up at the office. You're always there to make sure we have what we need, when we need it, and a break when that's needed to. I love you crazy ass.

Jean-Francois Beaulieu, you are one of the most important parts of your puzzle. You take my work and make it more than I could on my own. You preform magic with your colors and take us too another world. I am glad to call you my partner and here is to another million years of creating fun art together. Thank you for working with me for so many years.

Eric, your love of the project and the world of Baum's Oz is the foundation of this thing. It gives me the confidence to step outside the box because I know you're always there with the connection to the material that we need.  Together we strike an amazing balance and I look forward to many more!

Last, thank you to all the fans for supporting us out there in the stores.  You're buying the books, reading the books, and telling people about the books.  I can't thank you enough.  Without you we would have never made it this far, let alone won 2 Eisner awards. So, thank you for your support over the last few years.
it's been a few years since I've been to SDCC.  It's so big it's become such a nightmare trying to break the surface and get a table.  Well, I was honored by getting 2 Eisner nominations for our OZ book and planned going out for the award ceremony and just walking around for a few days.  But plans have changed.

Thanks to my friend J. Scott Campbell, I was lucky enough to get a spot with the N.F.R artist group.  This means that I will be feeling quite small next to the likes of J. Scott Campbell, Arthur Adams, Bruce Timm, Amanda Conner, Phil Noto, Michael Golden, and maybe a few others.  Seriously, to be sharing a booth with these powerhouse artists is a real honor.

N.F.R. Booth #4601 I'll have some prints, my new art book and will be doing some sketches.
Hey everyone.  Some of you may know, but for those who don't...

My little brother Landon's health has seen better days and he has been added to the donor list for a heart transplant.  Thank you to all who have sent their thoughts and kind words. My family and I appreciate it and hope that this will all be over soon.

Due to this, I have canceled my trip to this years Heroes Con in NC.  I'm terribly sorry to those that were heading out to say and hi. I will be making it up next year.

Thanks again for your support.

There were a lot of things I wanted to achieve in my career in comics.  Some I have, some I'm still reaching for.  Being nominated, or winning an Eisner Award (The comic book industry's version of the Oscar's) was never one of those things.  Not that I didn't want one. I thought it would be amazing to get added to the list of nominees. I never added it to my list because I thought it was an impossible goal.  Someone like me couldn't be nominated for an Eisner Award.

Well, that just changed.  Nominations were announced today and my latest book THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ has been nominated for 2 Eisner Awards.  I am so happy and proud of everyone involved and thank them all for making something that would have never been on my list of "must-do's" a possibility.  And thanks to all of you who supported us by buying the book.

Sorry for the reverse play in the last second.  Just got word that my flight was canceled for some reason and there were no more flights out of this tiny airport.  So, I won't be attending Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con as planned.  I am sorry and wish that there was something more I could do but thems is the breaks.

Check my site for more upcoming shows in your area.
Stop this Saturday and Sunday to pick up a sketch, print, copy of Adventures of Bernard, or all of the above.

So I've finally solved my printing issues and I'll be returning to self publishing again.  I was happy with print on demand but it didn't allow me to give you the product I wanted to give you at the price that was reasonable.

I've set up my printing plans and am putting the book together now.  I'll be doing a 100 page, full color artbook once a year from now on.  And my goal is to keep them 100% original material.  No Marvel characters. No DC characters. Just the drawings, sketches, doodles, paintings, etc. that I create.  I'll be doing a small print run of 1000 copies and they'll all be signed.

Here's where you come it.  Help me by suggesting a name for my series of art books. They will all have the same name with different volume numbers.  "Blah Balh vol. 1" for example.  If I pick yours, you'll get a free book with an original drawing inside.

Here's a few do's and don'ts:

1. The book will be filled with drawings I do for fun, in my free time. They are experiments and pieces that help me explore new techniques and styles.  Keep these ideas in mind for  a theme.

2. One word is preferable, maybe two.  But no more that two.

3.  Do not use my name.  No clever plays on Skottie or Young.

4.  Remember that it has to cover all genres of art and styles and be open enough to cover my art 4 years from now.

There, now you have a mission.  Name my book people.
