Fantastic work! Love the hair as a framing device! Such a great character too, both in the books, and integrated with the Mombi character in the Return to Oz film.

Not really sure what to think of this version of Langwidere just yet.I 've seen an illustration of her in the original book as interpreted by John R. Neill. She was certainly a lot slender as opposed to this version depicted here.If I remember correctly,Langwidere was a very vain individual who loved beauty and would rather spend most of her time admiring it.Whether that included her body as far as weight is concerned is beyond me.Not that I'm calling Skottie Young's Langwidere fat,I guess I'm just used to seeing her as thin.Maybe it's the feet that make her seem big.Regardless,I'm still looking forward to reading issue 3 of this series.I've always loved Langwidere as one of my favorite characters in fiction.I hope I do not offend anyone with my comments. If I did, then I sincerely apologize.

Not at all. Art makes us all think differently. My thoughts were that if she was a bit more outside the normal frame work of what we consider perfect, her vanity would be even more powerful. To me, you don't have to be thin to be vain. You don't even have to be beautiful to be vain. All you need to be, is.. vain. Vanity is a train that we all have to a degree. So I chose to play with the shape of her for these reasons. And, so far, nearly every woman character in OZ was slender and petite. I thought it would help to create some variation.

My goal with Oz is to do my take on the source material for a new generation of readers and not just pay homage to the original illustrators.
