Ok, so Manga Studio is pretty good, but i think I prefer Painter for digital inks. It has a great spread of actual texture, liquid ink that acts like...well, liquid.
This piece took me about 10 minutes and I used the exact brushes that the program had. No adjusting or manipulating the brush to do something it shouldn't. This is exactly what the brushes do. Applying normal pressure creates a solid line while letting up on the pen allows for the dry brush effect. Very similar to real brushes.
I really think that it's getting pretty close to not telling the difference. I will probably do my creator owned stuff digitally for the sake of time and money. Pretty cool stuff.
Looks pretty good man. I have yet to play with the inks in painter. For the record, I can still see the digital in there. It may have something to do with the cavalier nature of the sketch, with undo you have nothing to lose so you work faster than you would with normal ink. That's just my 2 cents. It is still damn cool looking and I would buy a book in 2 seconds if it looked that cool.
