This is a Joker commission I did on 11x14 bristol with brush and ink, and watercolor. I love the Joker because his madness allows for some experimentation in his shapes. I love trying out crazy shapes.
That said, I think your Joker is missing something. The line work is awesome, the color fantastic! But the character itself is missing that insane "Joker" quality. That sparkle in his eye that reflects cruelty and humor at the same time. It is what creeps you out and love him all a once. That what I want to see in this Joker's face but I don't.
I feel like this is just a stamp of the character. Beautiful, well designed but flat in the end.
Again, try to take this as nicely as possible as I think all your other work is border line brilliant. Your work on the Oz books deserve a standing ovation. I wish I saw some of that brilliance in this piece.
